Abstract

Antioxidants are our first line of defense against free radical damage, and are critical for maintaining optimum health and wellbeing. Catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and thiobarbituric acid reactive Substances (TBARS) estimated using liver homogenate. Dose dependent antioxidant activity was obtained against DPPH radical. Levels of serum markers AST, ALT, ALP, TB and total protein were significantly increased in CCl4 treated rats. Increase in antioxidant enzymes CAT and SOD and a decrease in the level of TBARS was observed.
